After Ivanka's interview with the FBI was released, widow Melania Trump finally went public with her story.  In Ivanka's interview with the Feds, she revealed that Melania had asked her to bring the double-barreled shotgun with her to her father's rally, "She said that Dad wanted to be sure to get the biggest snipe ever, and he thought he would need the shotgun."

When speaking on MSNBC earlier today, Melania explained how Mr. Trump told her that he wanted to obtain the largest snipe in the history of mankind.  Although President Obama had explained to him that snipes are caught by chasing them with a stick into a paper sack, Mr. Trump believed his snipe would be so large that it would not fit in a sack, and that he would have to shoot it.  "I was to follow them in the shrubs with the shotgun, and give it to Mr. Trump at the last minute, after he spotted his snipe.  I was not to be seen," Melania explained.  "But then, after they arrived at the hunting site, the President, the Secret Service, and press core photographers all suddenly just ran away, leaving Mr. Trump alone."

"So how was he shot?" Rachel Maddow asked.  "Well, it was an accident.  I wasn't sure how to operate the gun," Melania answered.  "But he was shot twice," Maddow pointed out.  "Well, I had to be sure," Melania responded.  "I understand," Maddow replied.

The FBI has ruled the incident an accident, and has closed the investigation.
